Cleveland Maidan Association & Coats for Kids Shipping Coats to Ukraine

Coats for Kids and Cleveland Maidan Assco.

CLEVELAND- Cleveland Maidan Association & Coats for Kids have partnered to collect new or like-new winter coats in adult sizes. So far, there have been over 350 coats collected.

Donated coats have been cleaned, sorted, bagged, and shipped overseas to newly freed areas of Ukraine.

Nataliya Dudzianyi is the Cleveland Maidan coordinator and told WTAM,

"Coats for Kids was kind and generous enough to donate about 300 coats. Also we're picking up some coats that Coats for Kids were wonderful enough to clean for us from the collections that we've had throughout this month. Sometimes we get wonderful, good quality coats, but they need a little love, and we don't have the capacity to wash that many coats on our own, and they were so kind to take those coats, clean them up and we are here picking them up."

With buildings shattered and personal property stolen or destroyed, high-quality winter coats may be all that people in the de-occupied areas have to shield them from harsh winter weather. Dr. Taras Mahlay spoke more in-depth about the way the war has impacted life for people in Ukraine.

"We've been focusing on humanitarian aid medical aid but when a city is bombed, and the civilians not only get injured and end up in hospitals, they have no home to return to. They have no clothes, no coats, and obviously, it's winter, so they are freezing to death too. So, we have started a collection in the Ukrainian community, and we expanded it and we called up Coats for Kids who are generous to say that work with us to for ship out coats and warm clothes for Ukraine.

Donations of winter coats in adult sizes that are high quality – new or gently worn without stains, tears, broken zippers, or missing buttons – are needed.
