Catcher Mike Zunino Agrees to 1-year Deal With Guardians

Landing the top two free agents on the Guardians off-season wish list? Check and check.

After the news last week that the Guardians landed first baseman Josh Bell, Tuesday a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand that a deal has been reached. The Guardians have yet to confirm the deal.

This is a big deal since the team missed out on Sean Murphy, the former Oakland Athletics catcher who agreed to terms with the Braves. Zunino is a much-needed upgrade at the Catcher position and was an all-star in 2021. Zunino will bring much-needed power to the Catcher position, something the team hasn't really had since the days of Sandy Alomar. In 2021, Zunino hit 33 homers with an .860 OPS.

He's no slouch at defense either, winning a gold glove at the catcher position during his all-star season in 2021.

Here are some Mike Zunino highlights from the last two seasons.
