Bay Village Police Blotter-Multiple Cases Of Fraud

BAY VILLAGE, OH - On 06/01/2022, BVPD Officers arrested 21-yoa Ladasia Vinson for Theft and Identity Fraud in relation to multiple reports of missing items from resident’s rooms at O’Neill Healthcare, where she was working as a contracted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). On 8/24/2022, Vinson’s case went before a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury. The Grand Jury handed down a multi-count indictment against Vinson for Burglary, Theft, Money Laundering, Possession of Drugs and Identity Fraud. The Cleveland resident’s case will be handled by the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas.

On 09/04/2022, at 2103 hrs, a resident in the 400 block of Elmwood called to report she returned home from vacation and found one her windows standing open. Officers responded and checked the house. Nothing was disturbed or missing, and there were no signs of anyone entering the house. The window was not forced open, and appeared as though it was unlocked and blown open. Officers gave the area special attention. 

On 09/04/2022, at 1523 hrs, a resident in the 31000 block of Bexley reported she had been the victim of a fraud. Someone had accessed her checking account and had their electric bill automatically paid. This went on for over a year before the resident realized it was happening. Police are investigating. 

On 09/04/2022, at 0153 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Bradley near Huntington Woods Parkway for a traffic violation. After speaking with the male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI. The 63-yoa Bay Village resident will face charges at RRMC.

On 09/02/2022, at 0051 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Wolf Rd. near Bayfair Dr. for multiple traffic violations. After speaking with the male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking.  Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI. The 52-yoa Bay Village resident will face charges at RRMC. 

On 09/01/2022, at 2209 hrs, a BVPD officer located a vehicle stopped partially in the roadway in the 300 block of Bradley Rd. The vehicle had damage to the passenger side and appeared as though it had been involved in an accident. Upon approaching the vehicle, he located a female passed out in the driver’s seat. Several attempts were made to wake her, which were unsuccessful. Suspecting she was under the influence of a narcotic, Narcan was administered. Once administered, she began to wake up. The female was transported to the hospital by BVFD for treatment and later charged with OVI. During an inventory of the vehicle officers located several open containers of alcohol. Further charges are pending lab results. The 42-yoa Medina resident will face charges at RRMC. 

On 08/31/2022, at 1038 hrs, a resident in the 500 block of Canterbury reported she had been the victim of fraud. Someone had made almost $10,000 in fraudulent transactions to her savings and checking accounts. Police are investigating. 

On 08/31/2022, a Bay Village City School Bus driver reported that someone had passed his stopped school bus. The incident occurred on 08/29/2022 in the 30000 block of Wolf Rd. when the driver stopped to discharge students. After investigating and reviewing the video incident, a 38-yoa male from Elyria was cited. He will face charges at RRMC.
