An Ohio teen is recovering after he received an unexpected gift at his friend's birthday party: a huge tree, which landed right on him.
Lucas Cirivello, 13, suffered a fractured neck, brain bleed, a fractured face and a broken nose in the freak accident, which occurred while he was participating in an obstacle course during the celebration, says his mom, Jenn Phillips. "He was at a friend's house and climbing on this obstacle course and then he fell backward," Phillips says. "And then the tree, from my understanding, fell on him."
Although Cirivello is in for a lengthy hospital stay, doctors expect him to make a full recovery, Phillips says. "Through all the prayers that we have received, he's going to walk out -- and I couldn't be more grateful for anything than that my son will walk out of here," she says. "I just want him to live his life."
