Guardians Lose 6-2 On Wednesday In Cactus League Play

GLENDALE, AZ - The Guardians traveled north to Glendale for their third road game of the spring on Wednesday falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Camelback Ranch.

Both Cleveland tallies came in the 2nd inning on 3B ERNIE CLEMENT’s 2-out, 2-run double off LHP Clayton Kershaw (2.1IP, 2H, 2R-ER, BB, 4SO); thru 4 games, Clement has gone 5-for-9 with a pair of doubles and 4 RBI. GABRIEL ARIAS started at second base and picked up a pair of hits. RHP SHANE BIEBER toed the bump in his first Cactus League action of the spring, logging 37 pitches (1.1IP, 3H, 4R-ER, BB, SO, 2HR); the Dodgers offense plated 4 runs against the Guardians ace on a pair of home runs, as a Gavin Lux lead-off solo shot in the 1st preceded a 3-run drive by Miguel Vargas in the 2nd. RHP ELI MORGAN (2.0IP), RHP EMMANUEL CLASE (1.0IP) and LHP ANTHONY GOSE (1.0IP) all turned in scoreless efforts out of Cleveland’s bullpen.

Sitting at 3-2 through 5 Cactus League contests, the Guardians return home to Goodyear Ballpark where they will host the Seattle Mariners for a 1:05 AZ/4:05PM ET game today. Right-handers CAL QUANTRILL (0-0, ---) and Logan Gilbert (0-0, ---) will both make their first starts of the spring. The game will be on the radio on REAL 106.1 FM.
