Energy Drinks Worst Drink for Your Heart, Says Doctor & Dietitian

Have you had an energy drink recently? You're not alone. We sat down with Dr. Teresa Daniele, chief of cardiology, to discuss the effect consuming too many of these sugary drinks can have on your heart.

They may help you get things done throughout the day, but experts say that energy drinks are the worst drink for your heart.

According to Trista Best, MPH, RD, LD at Balance One Supplements, the amount of caffeine in energy drinks can be incredibly harmful to your heart.

Too much caffeine could have a diuretic effect on a person's body, causing dehydration.

"...the heart of a dehydrated individual must work harder due to less blood circulating through the body," Best says.
