It took 22 years, but Stephen Caufield’s message in a bottle has finally been received. Over two decades ago, the Irishman sent the bottled message afloat in hopes that the note would land him a girlfriend.
Simply stated, the note inside gave his name, address, age (22 at the time), and requested the recipient “please write to me if you are a girl.”
The bottle was initially launched from some local docks, but didn’t end up traveling to distant, far away lands. Instead, it ended up just 18 miles away, and was eventually found by a guy on Twitter.
Now married and with kinds, Caufield and his wife both confirmed that they didn’t meet through bottled messenger.
