Berea Man Charged With Vehicular Homicide That Killed Bainbridge Woman

Solon, OH – Jaymarlon Hayes, 19, from Berea was charged related to the pursuit and crash of a stolen car last Friday that left an 85-year-old Bainbridge woman dead who was a passenger in her husband’s pick-up truck.

A Solon Police officer on patrol observed a blue Ford Fusion sedan traveling eastbound on Solon Road from Erico Drive last Friday around 2:40 pm. The vehicle was entered in a police database as a stolen vehicle, taken at gunpoint from Cleveland the day before. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled eastbound on Solon Road. Pursuit continued for a few minutes, traveling into the Village of Bentleyville and Chagrin Falls before the Solon officer lost sight of the suspect vehicle and terminated his pursuit. The stolen vehicle returned to the city of Solon westbound on Solon Road after being pursued by a neighboring police agency and the cops deployed stop sticks causing the car to travel left of center crashing into two vehicles.

Hayes is charged with one count of Involuntary Manslaughter, one count of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, two counts of Aggravated Vehicular Assault, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Failure to Comply with Order or Signal of Police Officer.
