It was 41 years ago today when former Beatle John Lennon was shot and killed outside of his New York City apartment complex.
Lennon was returning home from a recording session with his wife, Yoko Ono, when Beatles fan Mark David Chapman fired multiple shots, killing Lennon.
News of the tragedy was broken by legendary broadcaster Howard Cosell during the Patriots-Dolphins 'Monday Night Football' broadcast.
Lennon died of massive blood loss. Chapman is serving life in prison for Lennon's murder.
