(Cleveland) - A federal court jury has ruled in favor of Lake and Trumbull Counties in their federal suit against Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens, in national prescription opioid litigation.

The trial, which has been undway almost two months, included over 30 witnesses. Lake and Trumbull Counties were selected by the court as a bellwether trial, or a test case, to gauge where future trials may end up. Thousands of similar lawsuits have been filed cross the nation.

It was estimated that 61 million pills were dispensed in Lake County from 2012 to 2016, which is 265 pills for every man, woman, and child in the county.

Lake County and Trumbull County has already agreed to settlements with Giant Eagle and Rite Aid.
