(Cleveland) - Cuyahoga Community College, or Tri-C, has announced the suspension of all school athletics until the fall of 2022. The statement was issued on Tuesday.
Tri-C administrators say they hope that the downtime will give the community enough time to reach widespread immunity from COVID. Tri-C says they plan to use the time to rebuild the school's athletic programs. This will include hiring an athletics director to oversee the programs, recruit student-athletes, and relaunch the program.
Athletics at Tri-C include Men's baseball, basketball and soccer, and Women's basketball, cross country, softball, track, and volleyball.
Tri-C says it's among several programs in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference that have suspended programs for some or all of the 2021-22 academic year.
