(Cleveland) - Cuyahoga County Council members voted on Tuesday to approve a settlement with a former county jail inmate who claimed he was attacked by guards.
In the 2018 incident, Cortez Tyree said that when he refused an order to hang up on a phone call with his wife, he was assaulted by corrections officers. Tyree's lawsuit says he was put into a restraining chair, and then beaten by guards inside an elevator.
The county approved a settlement of $170,000.
