(Elyria) - Lorain County's only enclosed shopping mall has seen tough times in recent years, but a decision by Elyria City Council could bring new life back to Midway Mall.
Elyria Council has created a zoning overlay over the mall, from business general to light industrial. This will allow both light industrial and retail in the same area. The Morning Journal reports that a logistics company was interested in the mall.
There are only a couple of dozen retailers left in the mall off Route 57, with Dunham's Sports being the only anchor store left, now that Dillard's, Macy's, Sears, JC Penney, and Best Buy have all closed.
