(Wellington Township) - A man died Wednesday evening in what the Lorain County Sheriff's Office calls an "unfortunate accident." He was apparently crushed by a car on which he was working.
Just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Lorain County 911 got a call about a man trapped under a car at a home on Fairgrounds Road in Wellington Township. Wellington Fire and Southern Lorain County Ambulance came, and found the man trapped underneath a blue Honda two-door. The man was pronounced dead.
Lorain County Deputies were called in, along with the Lorain County Coroner's Office. They determined that the 34-year-old man had been working on the car while lying on a mechanic's creeper underneath the car. The car was elevated from the concrete floor with two jack stands, and two metal car ramps. At some point, the car shifted backward off the ramps and jack stands. This caused the car to fall on the man, killing him.
The man's name will be released once family members are notified.
