Cleveland Murder Suspect Arrested In Las Vegas

(Cleveland) - A man wanted as the suspect in a murder in Cleveland last summer was arrested over the weekend in Las Vegas. Nayshun Washington, 26, was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Las Vegas.

Washington had been determined to be the suspect in a shooting that happened July 13, 2020, near East 65th Street and Dibble Avenue. Washington, and victim Ervin Walker, had been arguing, when Washington is said to have shot Walker numerous times in the chest. Walker died three weeks later.

A warrant was issued for Washington on February 14. Investigators from the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force began working the case. U.S. Marshals in Las Vegas also worked the case, after their counterparts in Ohio got word that Washington had left Cleveland, and was staying at a hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. Late in the evening on Friday, Washington was arrested on South 7th Street in Las Vegas. He is in the Clark County Jail until he is extradited to Ohio.
