Ohio GOP Chair Jane Timken Resigns

(Columbus) - Ohio GOP Chair Jane Timken is apparently setting up for a run at the U.S. Senate seat being vacated at the end of 2022 by Sen. Rob Portman. On Friday, Timken told the Ohio GOP Executive Committee that she was resigning, effective immediately.

Timken has not confirmed she's running for the Senate, only saying she would reveal her plans in the near future.

She has spent the last four years as chair of Ohio Republicans, following President Donald Trump's first win in Ohio.

Timken has never before run for office. She is a Cincinnati native, and is married into the Timken family, one of the most prominent families in Canton.
