Body Cam Shows Encounter With Cleveland Mayor's Grandson Before Car Chase

The Parma Police Department has released dash cam and body cam footage showing Frank Q. Jackson getting pulled over before leading officers on a chase.

Jackson, grandson of Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, is accused of a domestic violence charge involving the mother of his child. Jackson missed a pretrial hearing related to the charge on Monday (January 25), because he was at the jail in Parma after turning himself in for failing to comply with police orders, WTAM reported Tuesday morning (January 26).

Police apparently tried to arrest Jackson because his tinted windows were too dark, but the traffic stop turned into a chase through Cleveland on Sunday (January 24).

Dash cam footage shows a brief struggle between Jackson and one of the responding officers shortly after the 5:15 mark. That’s when Jackson drove off and the chase ensued.

Body cam footage shows the interaction between Jackson and police before the chase.

That encounter includes the officer asking for consent to search Jackson’s vehicle, explaining why another officer was present, and requesting that he get out of the car. Jackson repeats "I still don't get it" while speaking with the officer.

As the officer tried to get Jackson to exit his vehicle, Jackson drove away.

“He also dragged me on the car and almost ran me over,” the officer says into his radio as he pursued Jackson.

Parma officials and court records show that Jackson is charged with failure to comply with a police order. His bond is set at $50,000, according to 19 News.
