Former Indians Shortstop Omar Vizquel Denies Abuse Allegations

CLEVELAND - Former Cleveland Indians shortstop Omar Vizquel is denying domestic violence allegations brought by his estranged wife, Blanca Vizquel.

In an interview for the Atlantic, Blanca Vizquel describes years of alleged domestic and emotional abuse. Wednesday night, the former Indians shortstop reacted on Twitter writing, in part, "I have never hit or been violent toward my wife Blanca. Any accusation to the contrary is false."

Vizquel went on to address accusations from 2011 and 2016 that led to an MLB investigation. Another probe is underway now that could complicate his case for MLB's Hall of Fame. Omar Vizquel is currently in his fourth year on the ballot.

Vizquel's tweet began, "In an effort to set the record straight on the ongoing divorce proceedings with my wife, today I issued the following statement."
