(Cleveland) -Thousands of needy chidren in Greater Cleveland will have new or gently-worn winter coats, thanks to the generosity of customers and employees of Discount Drug Mart. Thursday morning, on WTAM's Wills and Snyder program, officials of Discount Drug Mart presented a check for $61,193 to Coats For Kids.
The $61,193 donation is much larger than the average of $45,000 coming from Discount Drug Mart. Coats For Kids officials say that $45,000 can buy 3,145 new winter coats.
Discount Drug Mart made the contribution through their annual Paper Coat Campaign, in which customers donated $1 at checkout, with all the money being donated to Coats For Kids. Employees competed to see which ones at each store could get the most donations.
Donations of money, new coats, and gently-worn used coats are accepted year-round by Coats For Kids.
