(Columbus) - The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles has extended the grace period for renewing expired drivers licenses, ID cards, and vehicle registration until July 1, 2021. The BMV says the move was made possible with the passage of House Bill 404, which extends the grace period, which was to have ended December 1, 2020.
if your expiration date for your drivers license, state ID, or vehicle registration is March 9, 2020, to April 1, 2021, the expiration date has been automatically extended and will remain valid until July 1, 2021.
The grace period was created so that people would not have to go to a BMV deputy registrar's office during the pandemic. Vehicle registrations can be done online, but drivers licenses and ID cards must be issued in person.
