(Cleveland) - Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish is asking County Council to create a fund to set aside tax dollars for renovations and improvements to Progressive Field, Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, and FirstEnergy Stadium.
The fund would be created with money from the county's bed tax, charged to hotel guests. A one percent increase in the tax began on January 1st, with 60 percent of the increase to go toward a fund for benefit of the homes of the Indians, Cavaliers, and Browns.
Councilman Dale Miller, chair of the Council's Finance and Budgeting Committee, told cleveland.com that the fund may be used when lease negotiations with the Indians take place. The Indians' lease on Progressive Field expires in 2023.
