Bond Remains at $3 Million For Det. Skernivitz's Accused Killer

(Cleveland) - Bond will remain at $3 million for David McDaniel, 18, the only adult suspect in the murder of Cleveland Police Det. James Skernivitz.

McDaniel was arraigned in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas on Tuesday morning, his first court appearance since he was named in an 11-count indictment by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury.

In a video appearance from the Cuyahoga County Jail that took only about two minutes, McDaniel said he had read the indictment, and understood the charges. Judge Sheri Miday said that McDaniel will have two public defenders assigned to his case.

The case has been assigned to Judge Deborah Turner, and McDaniel's first pretrial hearing will be Monday, Sept. 28.

The other two suspects, ages 17 and 15, are still in the juvenile court system. Prosecutors have not yet said if they will seek to have them tried as adults.
