CLEVELAND--In the five meetings between the Cleveland Indians and the Minnesota Twins during this 2020 season, the Indians have never scored more than two runs. Miguel Sano and Nelson Cruz's homers unsurprisingly proved to be the difference as the Twins take Game 1 of this opener 3-2.
Cesar Hernandez did make Cleveland Indians history with his first inning home run.
Aaron Civale (3-3) had eight strikeouts, allowed only one walk in six innings pitched. Civale gave up three earned runs and the Indians offense couldn't overcome the deficit.
After 29 games, the Indians have scored two runs or less in 14 of those games. Shane Bieber (5-0) will start Tuesday night against former Indians pitcher Rich Hill. Coverage begins at 6:05pm with the Ken Ganley Kia Tribe Insider Pregame with Carmen Angelo. First Pitch at 7:10pm follow by Xtra Innings with Greg Brinda right here on Newsradio WTAM 1100AM/106.9FM and on iHeartRadio on your smart device.
