OVI 7/8/2020
On 7/8/2020 at approximately 3:00 PM RRPD received a call from someone following a car from Lake Rd. to Wagar Rd. and said it was hitting curbs and ran a red light. A 2008 Honda Pilot was stopped on Hilliard Blvd. Officers made contact with the driver, later identified as Alexander Demers, 21-years-old of Rocky River. Mr. Demers said he was returning from Edgewater Park, Officers noticed several indicators of alcohol impairment and Mr. Demers was arrested for drunk driving. He was later released to a sober family member. Report# 20200725
Breaking & Entering 7/11/2020
On 7/11/2020 RRPD received a glass break alarm the GetGo on Center Ridge Rd. Officers found the east exterior door broken out and a large landscaping rock nearby. It was later determined that a tote containing tobacco and nicotine products valued at $760.94 was stolen. The detective bureau is currently investigating and working with other police departments who have experienced a similar crimes. Report # 20200734
Fleeing & Eluding 7/12/2020
At approximately 11:30 am on 7/12/2020 an officer saw a car on Smith Court that matched the description of a stolen vehicle from Parma Hts., that had been reported to possibly be in Rocky River. The vehicle, a black Kia Sportage, was confirmed to be the stolen vehicle and was occupied by one man. The Officer stopped behind the car and ordered the man out of the vehicle. The man got out of the car but would not comply with the officer and ran. Officers were unable to find him after searching the area. As he ran, the suspect dropped several items including drug paraphernalia and suspected marijuana. Officers also found a loaded Smith & Wesson M&P handgun in the car. Parma Hts. Detective Bureau processed the vehicle for evidence and are working with RRPD detectives to identify the suspect who fled. The investigation is ongoing. RRP report# 20200737.
