Bay Village Police Blotter: Fraud Running A Muck

On June 22, 2020 at 12:04pm, Bay Village Police responded to the 600 block of Bassett Road on report of a family dispute. Police arrived and found that the male homeowner was intoxicated and had gotten into a physical scuffle with his son. Police separated the pair and began to sort out the situation. After an investigation, the homeowner was arrested for Disorderly Conduct – Intoxication and the son was arrested for Domestic Violence. Both are facing future court dates.

On June 23, 2020 at 10:49am, Bay Village Police were dispatched to the 24000 block of East Oakland Road on report of a fraud. Police arrived and spoke with the victim who stated she had become involved with an individual investing in electronic currency or “Bitcoin.” The victim stated she had sent the individual $9000 to be a part of the investment before realizing that it may be a scam. Bay Village Detectives are investigating.

On June 25, 2020 at 5:08pm, Bay Village Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Parkside Road on report of a fraud. Police arrived and spoke with the victim. The victim stated that he was contacted by a female who stated she was with the Social Security Administration. The female then transferred the victim to a male that stated he was from the Drug Enforcement Administration. The male explained to the victim that there was a warrant out for his arrest and this could be cleared up if he would send personal and banking information. The male sent this information but later thought better of it and called police. The victim is monitoring his accounts for monetary loss while the Bay Village Detective Bureau investigates.
