Four Cleveland Cops Fired For Drinking On The Job

(Cleveland) - Four Cleveland Police officers have been terminated for drinking on the job.

The four officers were assigned to basic patrol in the city's Fourth District, which is on the east side. They are:

  • John Jarrell, age 42, hired October 1, 2012
  • Anthony Miranda, age 34, hired November 25, 2013
  • Kevin Kiesner, age 28, hired February 5, 2018
  • Matthew Dates, Age 27, hired November 26, 2018

The city says there was an internal investigation, which began after it was discovered the officers were drinking alcohol in a liquor establishment while on duty, and in uniform. The four officers were placed on restricted duty, and after the investigation was completed, findings were sent to Chief Calvin Williams for review, and then to the office of Public Safety Director Michael McGrath for final discipline.

All four officers were terminated, effective June 18. The city released copies of all four termination letters.
