Ohio Secretary Of State Wants Both In-Person And By-Mail Voting

(Columbus) - Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose says he's planning for a general election this fall that will include both in-person voting, and voting by mail.

LaRose told The (Toledo) Blade that he's lobbying lawmakers to make changes to expand access to voting by mail, while at the same time, preserving in-person voting, even if COVID-19 cases increase this fall. According to LaRose, a portion of voters still want to vote in person. He pointed out how supermarkets and drug stores managed the flow of people during the pandemic.

For voting at home, LaRose is proposing allowing voters to ask for a ballot online, instead of the current system that requires voters to go online for an application, and mail it in. He's also like to provide postage-paid envelopes, statewide, for the return of ballots.
