County Fairs Deciding Whether To Go On This Summer

(Columbus) - People across Ohio, especially kids who live on farms, are wondering if there will be county fairs this summer.

Those kids learn early that you can earn blue ribbons from raising livestock, but also make money when those blue ribbon animals are sold at auction.

The fairs themselves earn money through ticket sales, and events, such as demolition derbies and country or rock concerts.

There are 94 fairs across Ohio each summer, and the organizers are wondering what to do. The Columbus Dispatch says the Marion County Fair has canceled this year's event. Others are waiting to determine what to do. The first ones scheduled for the Cleveland area are the Lake and Summit County Fairs, both at the end of July.
