Rocky River Police Blotter: A Glutton of Robberies

On 4/28/2020, a River Oaks Dr. resident reported that on 4/26/2020, she noticed a problem with her 2006 Toyota Prius and after taking it to a mechanic learned that the catalytic converter had been removed from the vehicle. There are no suspects at this time, detectives are investigating.

On 4/28/2020 at about 3:00 pm, staff at Giant Eagle 22160 Center Ridge Rd. reported that two men just committed a theft offense and left the store and were last seen in a blue Honda Accord west bound on Center Ridge Rd. Responding police were able to stop the suspect car on Center Ridge Rd. One of the occupants, 41-year-old Carols Plass from Cleveland, ran from the car but was quickly apprehended by police. The driver was identified as 41-year-old Rodolfo Martinez from Cleveland. Several bottle of alcohol and energy drinks were recovered within the car. Mr. Martinez was cited for Receiving Stolen Property and Mr. Plass was charged with Theft and Obstructing Official Business.  

On 4/29/2020 at about 10:00 pm a Morewood Pkwy. resident called police to report that a man just knocked on his door and said he was the victim of a robbery. The caller said that the man was bleeding from his face and requested to use the phone. When the caller said he was calling police, the injured man took off running. When Officers arrived, they were unable to locate the male.

On 5/1/2020 at about 2:00 pm a Homeland Dr. resident reported being the victim of a scam. During the investigation, Officers found that he had been the victim of a grandparent scam. The victim was told that his granddaughter was in jail and needed the money to be released. The victim sent $6800.00 in cash through FedEx to an address in New Jersey. There are no suspects at this time and the detectives are investigating.
