Day 7: Things Are Heating Up

Goodyear 2.17.20

Last year at this time, it was cold in Arizona, making getting ready for camp feel like the squad was training in Cleveland. Turn the page to 2020, it's nothing but wall-to-wall sunshine and 80 degrees! But, the weather isn't the only thing heating up. The Indians pitchers are warming their arms as we are just a handful of days away from the Spring Opener vs. Reds on Saturday, February 22.

On Tuesday, some Indians' pitchers tossed in live batting practice, one of which was RHP James Karinchak. Karinchak was selected by Cleveland in the 9th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft. He is known for having great speed on the baseball with some pitches at or near 100mph on their release. Franmil Reyes was one of the first to step into the batters’ box against Karinchak and he was impressed with his stuff. Reyes and other players on the field joking around about his velocity and not being able to catch up to the ball.

More of the same to happen on Wednesday.
