Bay Village Police Blotter: Cocaine Traffic Stop

On December 31, 2019 at 3:51pm, Bay Village Police were dispatched to the 23000 block of Lake Road on report of a suspicious circumstance. Police arrived and spoke with the homeowner who reported that while she was away, someone damaged her screen door. Officers found that the lock to the door was broken but luckily, there was no damage indicating that someone tried to enter the home. The Bay Village Detective Bureau is investigating.

On January 1, 2020 at 2:00am, Bay Village Police stopped a vehicle on Wolf Road at Douglas Road for a moving traffic violation. Police spoke with the male operator, a 37 year-old Avon Lake resident, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The male failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. When asked, the male agreed to provide a breath sample to measure his level of impairment. The results of the test showed a .093 blood alcohol content. The male is facing charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.

On January 3, 2020 at 1:00am, Bay Village Police stopped a vehicle on Dover Center Road near Russell Road for a moving traffic violation. Police spoke with the male operator, 49 year-old Mentor resident and the female passenger a 37 year-old Bay Village resident, who both appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The male operator refused to submit to field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. Further, both individuals were found to be in possession of, and using, a white powder thought to be cocaine. On station, the male operator refused to submit to a breath test to measure his blood alcohol level. The male was charged with OVI, the moving violation and possession of drugs. The female was charged with disorderly conduct-intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drugs. Both are facing charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.
