On 12/18/2019 at about 2:40 AM a tow truck driver reported that a car on Hilliard Blvd. collided with his tow truck. Investigating officers determined that the driver of a 2016 Acura was west bound on Hilliard Blvd., collided with a tree while crossing the median, crossed back and collided with the tow truck. While investigating the accident, officers noticed indicators of alcohol impairment on the driver of the Acura.
After field testing, Christopher Monjot, 34-years-old from Avon Lake, was arrested for drunk driving. There were no injuries as a result of the accident.
On 12/18/2019 at about 1:55 PM police responded to the UPS Store 19885 Detroit Rd. after an employee reported a man and woman arguing in the store. Officers determined the two were arguing after the man alleged the woman parked too close to him and hit his car with her car door. There was no damage to property, threats or violence. Neither party is welcome at the UPS store again.
On 12/19/2019 at about 5:05 PM a Beach Cliff Blvd. resident was the victim of a distraction burglary. The resident reported that a man came to her door and acted like she knew her, gave her a hug and came inside, talked with her about her family while walking through the kitchen before leaving. After he left, the resident discovered several items, including cash and jewelry, missing. While the man that came to the door distracted the resident, another person entered and went through the house to steal. No one was injured and police are investigating.
On 12/20/2019 at about 1:55 AM an alarm was called in at Pier Beverage 22474 Lake Rd. Police arrived to find the rear door to bhe building pried open. The owner responded and reported change and Juul pods were missing. Witnesses reported a silver mustang left the area just prior to police arrival. Detectives are investigating.
