Bay Village Police Blotter: Sneaky Ex Causes a Stir

On November 17, at 8:54am, Bay Village Police were dispatched to the 24000 block of East Oakland Road on report of a burglary in progress. Officers were told that a male had entered the residence through a second story window and fled when the homeowner arrived home. When officers arrived, they spoke with the homeowner’s daughter who eventually admitted that it was an ex-boyfriend who had come to visit while her father was away and that there was no burglary. The suspect male was questioned by police by phone but would not come back to the scene because of outstanding warrants.

On November 16, 2019 at 3:07am, Bay Village Police stopped a vehicle in the 24000 block of East Oakland for several moving violations. Police spoke with the female operator, a 35 year old Bay Village resident, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The female failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. On station, the operator refused to submit to a breath test. She is facing multiple charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.

On November 16 at 9:08am, a Forestview Road resident arrived on station to report the theft of numerous pieces of jewelry. The homeowner advised that she had recently had contractors in the home working on a remodeling project and suspects they may be involved. Bay Village Detectives are investigating.

On November 17, at 9:49pm, Bay Village Police were dispatched to Speedway on Columbia Road to take a theft report. Officers responded and were told that a male had taken several cartons of cigarettes without paying. The male left the scene in a red two door vehicle (possibly a Hyundai) before police arrival. Camera footage was obtained and detectives are investigating.
