Cavs Open Preseason With A 120-89 Win Over San Lorenzo

CLEVELAND, OH -- The Cavaliers opened up preseason action on Monday night with the first game at the newly remodeled Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse with a 120-89 victory over San Lorenzo from Bueno Aires, Argentina.

It was a big night for the rookies of the Cavaliers as Darius Garland and Kevin Porter Jr. each made their Cavalier debuts tonight and they did not disappoint. Darius Garland, the Cavaliers 2019 first round pick (5th overall) played fourteen minutes and was a perfect four of four from the field for nine points and added two assists to his line as well. Kevin Porter Jr, the third first pick of the Cavs from the 2019 NBA Draft, played fourteen minutes, scored 15 points on 7 for 9 shooting and made some great plays on both ends of the floor. The Cavaliers other 1st round pick from the 2019 NBA Draft, Dylan Windler did not play due to a foot injury.

For the returning Cavaliers, Jordan Clarkson was the Jordan Clarkson we loved from last season as he was instant offense off the bench, as he scored 17 points on the night with three 3-pointers. Tristan Thompson had a double double on the night with 14 points and 10 rebounds in 26 minutes of play. Larry Nance Jr. added 15 points off the bench in 20 minutes of action including a couple of highlight reel dunks.

Next up in the preseason is a matchup with the Detroit Pistons on Friday night in Detroit with a tip time of 7pm. We start our coverage at 6:30 with the Cavs Tip Off show with Mike Snyder. You can hear all the action all season long on WTAM 1100 and 106.9 FM.
