New Lease Secured for Lorain County VA Outpatient Clinic

Cleveland - A new lease for the Lorain County VA Outpatient Clinic has been secured. VA will sign a $20,089,720, 20-year, lease agreement with Carnegie Management and Development to develop property next door to the current clinic location. The address for the new clinic location is 5329 North Abbe Road, Sheffield Village, Ohio.

Clinic operations are anticipated to move in December 2020 from the current 22,000 square foot facility to the new 25,131 square foot facility next door. Once complete, the new location’s increased space will reintroduce radiology services for area Veterans, and enhance VA’s ability to provide primary, mental health and specialty services to the more than 7,800 Veterans served by the clinic annually.

VA moved to the its current, temporary location in June 2016 while working through the federal procurement process to secure a long-term space. Previously, the Lorain County VA Outpatient Clinic resided at the St. Joseph Community Center in Lorain. Long-standing infrastructure challenges at the St. Joseph’s location forced VA to move clinic operations temporarily while a long-term space could be identified.

“We look forward to continuing serving our nation’s heroes in Lorain County at the new location,” said Candace Ifabiyi, VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System Acting Director. “Our goal is to have services available to Veterans near where they live. The new location will allow us to add services like radiology that are not available in our current location.”

The new location’s space and layout will continue to utilize VA’s Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model. This PACT approach to care allows for patients to receive specialized care via a team consisting of a primary care provider, nurse care manager, clinical associate and administrative clerk, ensuring care is more personalized and team-based with a focus on wellness and disease prevention.

The Lorain County VA Outpatient Clinic has 68 employees and currently provides a full range of services for Veterans to include, primary care and mental health services, women’s health, podiatry and physical therapy. The clinic also conducts telehealth for patients at other clinics throughout VA Northeast Ohio’s catchment area.

Lorain County VA Outpatient Clinic is one of 18 locations of care throughout VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System. The healthcare system provides and coordinates primary, acute and specialty care for nearly 112,600 Veterans across Northeast Ohio. There are 13 outpatient clinics, two community resource and referral centers, a psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery center, a chronic dialysis center, and an outpatient surgery center in VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System’s network of care.
