Cleveland - The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is kicking off a celebratory week spotlighting the connections between rock and football Aug. 1-8, 2019 at the Museum.
Fans can celebrate the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Enshrinement Week (Aug. 1-4) and the Cleveland Browns first preseason game against the Washington Redskins (Aug. 8) and learn more about the connections between music and football, view football themed artifacts, and compete in trivia to win Rock Hall prizes. The programs are free with museum admission, and space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Music has become engrained in the tradition of many sports events. From today’s biggest artists performing live at sporting events or The Super Bowl’s halftime show to star-studded celebrities singing National Anthems and the power of music to motivate athletes workouts, the storied history of music and sports is embraced at the Rock Hall.
For a limited time, Aug. 1-8, the Museum’s Shine a Light exhibit features football-themed artifacts, including timeless football tributes, such as the football helmet worn by Roger Daltrey on the cover of the Who’s Odds and Sods LP. The exhibit also features favorite artists from a handful of enshrinees from the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019 Enshrinement who will be enshrined on Saturday, Aug. 3, including Johnny Robinson’s picks Elvis and the Drifters, and Ed Reed’s and Champ Bailey’s favorite, OutKast, and more! Visitors can also check out Jimi Hendrix’s football-themed childhood drawings in the Legends of Rock exhibit area.
Fans can rush to the Museum for Stories of Rock offered daily at 1 p.m., Aug. 1-8. Football themed songs and players’ favorite artists are also queued up on Rock Boxes around town, can be heard throughout the Museum and are available for download on the Rock Hall’s Spotify page.
This week, fans can also enjoy more great Rock Hall Live! Powered by PNC programming and events, including free Summer in the City (July 31) and Sun Sets (Aug. 2) concerts, daily acoustic sets on the plaza and Stories of Rock, DJ Night in the Beer Garden (Aug. 1), free public talk and performance with Woodstock’s youngest performer, Henry Gross of Sha Na Na (Aug. 1), exclusive screenings of I Want My MTV documentary (Aug. 2-3), and Joan Jett & Heart (Aug. 4) and Santana (Aug. 7) Fan Days. The Rock Hall offers summer hours through August 31 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
