Bay Village Police Blotter: You Shall Not Pass

On July 16, 2019 at 1:11pm, Bay Village Police were dispatched to the construction area on Lake Road east of Cahoon Road on report of a vehicle that had driven past “Road Closed” barricades and had got stuck in an area of unfinished road. Police arrived and spoke with the female operator, a 59 year-old Sheffield Lake resident. Officers found that the she was operating the vehicle while impaired. Further, she had three young children in the vehicle. Paramedics responded and found that the children were OK and that the operator was the caretaker for the children. The operator was taken to the hospital for evaluation. She was eventually charged with Failure to Obey Traffic Control Devices, Failure to Control, Endangering Children and may be charged with OVI pending urinalysis lab results. She is facing charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.

On July 18, 2019 at 12:57am, a Bay Village Officer was on patrol in the area of Lincoln Road near Revere Road. The officer noticed a young male and stopped to talk to him. The officer found that the 18 year old male, a Bay Village resident, was under the influence of alcohol. Upon arrest, officers also discovered that the male was in possession of marijuana. He is facing Alcohol and Marijuana charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.

On July 22, 2019 at 1:23am, Bay Village Police stopped a vehicle near the “Road Closed” portion of Columbia Road south of Lake Road. Police discovered that the operator of the suspect vehicle, a 38 year-old Lakewood resident, was operating the vehicle while under the influence. The male failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. On station, the male submitted to a breath test which showed a .205% blood alcohol content. The male is facing charges for OVI and Stopping in the Roadway in Rocky River Municipal Court.

On July 22, 2019 at 9:10am, Bay Village responded to 605 Clague Parkway on report of a theft. It was discovered that the catalytic converters were stolen from two work vans parked in the lot in the overnight hours. Bay Village Detectives are investigating.
