Cleveland Diocese Releases Names of Priests Accused of Sexual Abuse

CLEVELAND - The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland is making public a list of previously unnamed priests and other clergy it says have been accused of sexually abusing minors.

The list contains the names of 21 priests and a deacon. The recent names are added to those of 29 priests previously named by the Diocese. Bishop Nelson Perez said in a letter announcing the release that a committee assembled by the Diocese determined the accusations against the clerics were “more likely than not to be true.” The release follows a pledge by Bishop Perez to follow the lead of other dioceses in releasing the names of accused priests, past and present.
