CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Transportation Security Administration discovered a loaded firearm at a Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) checkpoint on Friday. At approximately 6:30 a.m., a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun was detected in a passenger’s carry-on bag. TSA immediately alerted airport police, who took possession of the bag and escorted the passenger out of the checkpoint area.
This is the ninth firearm detected by TSA officers at Cleveland security checkpoints in 2019. A total of 23 were detected there last year.
