Akron Woman Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison for Stabbing Boyfriend to Death

Akron - Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Alison McCarty sentenced Crystal Baker, 34, of Garfield Street in Akron, to 15 years in prison for stabbing her boyfriend, 34-year-old Shawn Belville, to death in September of 2017.

On May 17, 2019, Baker pled guilty to the following charges:

  • Voluntary Manslaughter – a felony of the 1st degree
  • Tampering With Evidence – a felony of the 3rd degree
  • Illegal Cultivation of Marijuana – a felony of the 3rd degree

On September 26, 2017, Bruce stabbed Shawn Belville in the chest. Belville died a short time later. At the time, Bruce and Belville were living together and had been in a relationship. Bruce cleaned up the crime scene and hid the knife used to kill Belville.
