Akron Teen Pleads Guilty in Connection with Deadly Shooting

Akron - Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that Antonio Poole, 19, of Crosier Street in Akron, pled guilty in connection with the 2017 deadly shooting of 26-year-old Deontae Henderson.

Poole pled guilty to the following charge:

  • Involuntary Manslaughter with a Gun Specification – a felony of the 1st degree
  • Having a Weapon Under Disability – a felony of the 3rd degree

On June 28th, 2017 Deontae Henderson was shot and killed outside his Sumner Street home. Investigators determined Poole, who was 17 at the time, lured Henderson outside of his home then shot him in the head. Following a hearing in Summit County Juvenile Court, Judge Linda Teodosio ruled the case was to be transferred to the Summit County Court of Common Pleas.

Poole is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday, May 2nd at 10am.
