Westlake Police Blotter: OVI, Thefts and Drug Busts

On 4/5/19 at approx. 11:30P an officer stopped a vehicle for driving without headlights.The operator was field tested and arrested for OVI and open container for an open Great Lakes beer he had been drinking.In addition, the vehicle contained amphetamine pills which the driver could not explain.The 26yo from Newburgh Hts was charged with felony drug possession as well as OVI, open container, and traffic charges.

On 4/6/19 at about 11am an officer stopped a vehicle on Columbia Rd at I90 for traffic violations.The operator admitted that he did not have a valid license and the officer detected signs of drug use/possession in the vehicle.The driver and passenger were separated.2 loaded firearms were located in the vehicle and ultimately, both occupants were charged with felony firearms violations.The driver was a 26yo male from Suwanee, GA while the female was identified as a 47yo from the same city.

On 4/6/19 WPD arrested 32yo Ravin Malone of East Cleveland on a felony robbery warrant for an incident which had occurred on March 7, 2019.Malone is accused of placing merchandise in his pants and shirt without paying at H+M at Crocker Park in March.Before fleeing, he pushed an employee out of the way and into the exit door.He made off that night with more than $200 worth of merchandise.

On 4/7/19 WPD took a report of a theft of a catalytic converter from underneath a Honda Odyssey while it had been parked at the RTA Park and Ride on Columbia Rd at Sperry.The theft had reportedly happened during the day on 4/1.RTA PD is also following up on the incident.

On 4/9/19 at approx. 9PM an officer found a male lying unconscious underneath an SUV in the parking lot of the Extended Stay on Clemens Rd.When the officer woke him up, the male appeared to be under the influence of drugs.His explanation was that he was cleaning the vehicle when he fell asleep.The 48yo from Wellington was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and Xanax.He was arrested and charged with felony possession.

On 4/10/19 a vehicle was stopped leaving the Red Roof Inn after a short stay at the hotel and committing traffic violations.There were indicators of drug use/possession in plain view in the car.The operator admitted to concealing suspected crack cocaine in his pants.A loaded handgun, marijuana and more suspected crack was found in the vehicle.The 28yo from Cleveland was arrested for the felony possession of drugs and having weapons under disability as he had prior convictions of Aggravated robbery and drug trafficking.
