Police blotter from the Solon Police Department:
Domestic Violence: April 6th. 2019 at 7:47 PM. Solon Police were dispatched to an apartment in the 33000 block of Aurora Rd. to investigate a disturbance. CVD reported that a caller was on the line screaming into the phone claiming that they “were losing control” and repeatedly yelling “shut up”. Upon arrival of the responding units, they met with the caller and learned that the other party, her son, had left the apartment. Officers learned from the caller that she had returned home from work and discovered dirty dishes in the sink. This discovery resulted in her having a verbal argument with her adult son. She also told officers that she began throwing items around the apartment but that she never struck her son. She was found to have some injuries but was caused by her actions. The son was found walking on Aurora Rd. and returned to the home. The adult son stated that his mother had thrown items at him but that she also hit him and attempted to stab him with a steak knife. The son (victim) signed a complaint and the caller (mother) was arrested for Domestic Violence.
Speed/Open Container/Weapons under Disability: April 6th, 2019 at 10:43 PM. A Solon Police Officer on patrol stopped a vehicle he had clocked speeding (79 MPH in a 60 MPH Zone) on US 422. While speaking with the operator of the vehicle, an open bottle of tequila was observed in the passenger’s compartment. The operator admitting to consuming some of the tequila that evening. A series of field tests were performed but did not indicate that the driver was impaired. A subsequent search of the interior of the vehicle discovered a loaded firearm in the glove compartment. The operator did not possess a permit for the weapon. The driver was also prevented by law to possess a firearm. Larry Sims, 34 of Solon was arrested and charged with having a weapon while under disability.
Marked Lanes Violation/Improperly Handling a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle/ Drug Abuse/Possession of Criminal Tools/Weapons Under Disability: April 9th, 2019 at 1:27 AM.A Solon Police officer on patrol observed a vehicle proceeding north on SOM Ctr. commit a traffic violation as it entered US 422. Once on US 422 going west, the operator committed additional traffic violations and was stopped. While speaking with the operator, the officer observed loose tobacco and a partially emptied cigar on his lap. The backup officer advised that he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. When questioned about the possibility of marijuana in the vehicle, the passenger began to produce a bag from her purse containing marijuana. The operator was asked to exit the vehicle and was searched. In his possession was a bag of marijuana and a prescription pill bottle. In the pill bottle were several pills matching the label. Also in the bottle was one pill not matching the label. The pill was determined to be Percocet who the operator claimed belonged to the passenger. The operator stated that he had taken a Percocet earlier for a toothache. The operator was subjected to a series of field tests which did not indicate any impairment. The operator, Richard Lee, 41 of Cleveland was arrested for possession of drugs not belonging to him. The passenger, Lourdes Marrero, 51 of Cleveland was arrested for drug possession and possession of criminal tools. During a search incident to arrest a firearm was located in the glove compartment. The weapon was loaded. Mr. Lee was additionally charged with improperly handling a weapon in a motor vehicle and having a weapon while under disability. Mr. Lee was prevented by law from possessing a firearm.
Drug Abuse/Obstructing Official Business/Drug Abuse Instruments. Bainbridge Rd. near Dorsett. April 10th. 2019 at 2:01 AM. A Solon Police Officer on routine patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Bainbridge Rd. after witnessing the vehicle make erratic movements while being operated. The operator of the vehicle presented an out of stat driver’s license which came back as being suspended. The operator was removed from the vehicle and arrested. Inside the vehicle were three more occupants. While conversing with the front seat passenger a plastic bag containing marijuana was seen in plain sight on the center console. The front seat passenger provided the officer with a name which was later discovered to be false. After being taken into custody this male was asked if he had any property in the vehicle. He stated that there was an orange bag containing a pipe, scales and “speed” were all his. 7.2 grams of methamphetamine were located in the bag. Two occupants in the back seat were removed from the vehicle and questioned. The female back seat passenger had an active warrant from Bainbridge Police and was released on scene to her. The male back seat passenger was given a ride home. During a search of the vehicle another .6 grams of methamphetamine was found. Arrested were: Terrence Brown, 38 from Arizona. Charged with Driving under suspension, Drug possession and seatbelt. Front seat passenger, Dominick Henderson, 22 from Aurora was charged with Possession of Drugs (x2), Possession of drug abuse instruments, and Possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing official business and seatbelt.
Domestic Violence. 6140 Kruse Dr. On April 10, 2019 at 8:35 am Solon officers were dispatched to 6140 Kruse Dr. to investigate a complaint of domestic violence. Upon arrival the officers learned from the victim that while she was in the vehicle with her daughter and the father of her daughter an argument began. During the argument the victim attempted to record the argument with her phone but that the suspect took the phone from her hand and would not return it to her. When she attempted to get the phone back she reported that the suspect pushed her head against the steering wheel. She stated that she did strike the suspect in self-defense and he then put her in a head lock. After escaping the headlock she exited the vehicle with her 2 year old daughter and went into the business and retrieved another phone and called the police. The victim states that the suspect then took this phone and threw it into the grass. The victim was able to get her phone from the top of the car at this point. The suspect was gone on the arrival of the police. Officers spoke to the suspect later in the day and he turned himself in on a warrant issued for his arrest.
