Westlake Police Blotter: "Trail Of Destroyed Tortilla Chips"

On 3/30/19 at approx. 2:47am a resident on Schubert Dr reported that a male had broken into his vehicle in the driveway and was scared away when the resident exited his front door.The suspect, described as an older white male wearing a light colored hoodie and pants was last seen running between houses on nearby Mozart.Nothing was missing from the unlocked vehicle that had been rummaged through.Officers are reviewing surveillance footage of the male.

On 3/31/19 at approx. 11am a vehicle was stopped on I90 near Crocker for an equipment violation.The vehicle smelled of marijuana and when the operator realized that the vehicle would be searched, he admitted that he also was carrying a handgun without a permit.A semi-automatic handgun, ammunition, and marijuana were recovered.The 23yo from Lorain was arrested and charged with felony carrying a concealed weapon.

On 4/1/19 at approx. 6PM a resident of Caroline Circle responded to WPD to report a theft of tools from their unattached garage.The tools were valued at approx. $250.A report was taken.There are no suspects at this time.

On 4/3/19 at approx. 12 noon officers stopped a vehicle on I90 in the area of Detroit for a speed violation.The operator not only was driving under a license suspension (DUS), he had a warrant out of North Olmsted PD. During the impound of the vehicle, officers located a loaded handgun in the car.The 24yo driver from Lorain was arrested.He was charged with DUS as well as carrying a concealed weapon and having weapons under disability due to a previous conviction for trafficking in drugs and carrying a weapon.

On 4/3/19 at about 10:40PM a resident on Crossings Parkway called WPD to report that an intoxicated female was banging on an apartment door and was possibly trying to break in.Officers located “a trail of destroyed tortilla chips” in the hallway of the building and leading to the described female.She appeared to be highly intoxicated and stumbled and fell in front of the officers.The 46yo from Westlake was placed into custody and transported to the Westlake jail to sober up.She was charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated.
