Thirty-eight Cleveland Police cadets graduate

(Cuyahoga County) - A new class of recruits graduated from the Cleveland Police Academy today.

Mayor Frank Jackson gave the Oath of Office to 37 new patrol members this afternoon at Cleveland City Hall. One more recruit from this class will be sworn in at a later date. Cleveland Police say the 38th recruit is currently on military leave.

Of those congratulating the new recruits were Safety Director Michael McGrath, and Police Chief Calvin Williams. The chamber was filled with local officials, family members and friends. Nearly a quarter of the class are female officers.

It was the 141st Academy Class Graduation Ceremony.
