Bay Village Police Blotter: January 2nd, 2019

Bay Village -

On 12/25/2018, at 08:31 hours, an officer noted a bicycle had been left by the pedestrian door on the west side of the police station. The officer was surprised to find that the bicycle was a brand new BMX Mongoose Legion L20. There was an envelope attached, with the words “Merry Christmas” written on the front. Inside was a handwritten note, “BVPD, IT IS OUR SINCERE HOPE TO HELP MAKE A CHRISTMAS WISH COME TRUE THIS YEAR. PLEASE GIVE THIS TO A DESERVING BOY IN NEED OF A BIKE.  – SANTA”. The Bay Village Police Department will be working to assist Santa is making sure this happens.

On 12/27/2018, at 00:05 hours, an officer was clearing from a call in the area of Osborn Road and Welshire Drive when he noticed two persons, who had been walking on the sidewalk, suddenly stop and hid behind a tree. When the officer approached, one of the persons hid behind a vehicle while the other ran into a backyard. The person behind the car turned out to be a 14-year old girl who admitted to having snuck out of her house. After giving the name and address of the 14-year old boy who had been accompanying her, an officer went to the boy’s home on Russell Road, near Douglas Drive. His parents were unaware that he was not in bed and in fact, when they checked, found that he had placed pillows covered by a sheet, “Alcatraz style” the father reported, to make it appear he was asleep in bed.  About an hour and a half later, the boy returned home. A report was taken and the Juvenile Detective will be reviewing in order to determine if charges will be filed.
