Some Of The Mail Bombs Were Not Capable Of Exploding

As investigators continue to determine the identity of the person responsible for sending at least ten explosive devices to Democratic politicians, liberal celebrities and activists, and the offices of news organizations, a new report says the bombs that have been analyzed were incapable of blowing up.

According to NBC New York, bomb technicians are unsure if the bombs were intentionally designed not to explode, or if they were just poorly crafted by an inexperienced bomb maker. The bombs were made from PVC pipe and were filled with shrapnel and explosive powder that came from pyrotechnics. They had a digital alarm clock, which was likely meant to set off the detonator.

"There’s a theory that the bombs were not intended to explode, but were intended to intimidate," New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said. "If that is the intent, then this is having the desired intent. And it could actually be fueling the group that’s doing it."

Officials still do not have a lead on who is responsible for sending the devices. They are attempting to pull forensic evidence from the bombs, hoping to find fingerprints or DNA and trying to determine where the different components came from.

Authorities have warned that their investigation is not complete and that if anybody receives a suspicious package they should immediately call 911.
