(Cleveland) - Cuyahoga County staff and partners are celebrating National Voter Registration Day by helping residents sign up to vote.
Today employees from the Department of Health and Human Services, Northeast Ohio Voter Advocates, and the Cleveland Food Bank helped get important information and resources to make sure they are qualified and registered to vote.
Simeon Best, voter registration coordinator for Cuyahoga County Health & Human Services, says there are many locations where residents can sign up, and it only takes about 2 minutes.
While voting in person is a tradition for many, voting by mail using an absentee ballot continues to grow in popularity because it is convenient, reliable, and saves time.
The Board of Elections is mailing Vote-by-Mail applications to all registered voters this year.
The deadline to register to vote is October 9th for this November's general election.
Meanwhile, poll workers are needed in Cuyahoga County. The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections is hiring more than 4,500 people to help staff the polls, transport ballots and more on November 6th.
Positions include both full-time and part-time jobs. Anyone who is interested can call 216-443-3277.
