Painesville Police Chief: Officer wounded by wife

(Lake County) - A Gates Mills police officer was taken to the hospital after a shooting and standoff at his home in Painesville.

Police Chief Dan Waterman says officers and a SWAT unit were called to the home on Cedarbrook Drive Monday afternoon.

Painesville officers say they found Dylan Hustosky at the scene with two bullet wounds to the left arm. Investigators believe wife Kayleigh shot her husband.

After a 3 hour standoff, Kayleigh was found in the upstairs portion of the house with a single gunshot wound. Her death was ruled a suicide.

Dylan Hustosky was taken to TriPoint Medical Center and then transferred to to MetroHealth Medical Center. He had to undergo surgery for his wounds.

Dylan is 27 years old, and Gates Mills Police Chief Greg Minichello says he is an excellent patrolman, and the department will assist Hustosky and his family through this ordeal. The couple has a 3 year old son, who was not at the home at the time of the tragedy.
