Akron - An explosion on Akron's south side this afternoon.
Emergency crews are asking people to stay away from the Emerald Performance Materials building near 240 West Emerling Avenue as they continue to deal with the explosion and fire that followed the blast.
Chemicals are a suspected factor in the blast, but that hasn't been confirmed yet. So far, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. Surrounding businesses have been evacuated, and Main Street is closed between Cole and Archwood Avenues.
